An Excursion to the Gould League

On Monday 25th May we went on an excursion to the Gould League in Moorabbin. We got to see many different minibeasts in ponds, gardens and under magnifying glasses. We learnt about composting, how to reduce rubbish and lots of interesting information about insects. We had a great day out and learnt so much! Here are some photos of the minibeasts and insects we saw.

A giant cockroach from Queensland.

An earthworm with a baby sac around it.

A giant worm pupa.

Other worms, millipedes and a stick insect.

Look at our Darkling Beetles!!

We were very excited today to discover that three of our pupae (mealworms) had

turned into beetles. Nicholas, Jason and Cindy’s pupae are now darkling beetles moving around

the containers. Two are still light in colour and one is already very dark. We had a lot

of fun watching them move around and even turn over onto their backs! We can’t wait for the

rest to turn into beetles. Stay tuned!
